This package provides a 3-day exploration of Arequipa and the Colca Canyon including visits to the Cruz del Condor and the town of Chivay. Experienced guides will accompany the tour.
The day begins with breakfast at the hotel. Transportation departs from various hotels between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM. The route proceeds towards the Colca Canyon via the Yura road passing along the Chachani volcano and into the Pampa Cañahuas within the Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve. This reserve is a habitat for vicunas and the Tocra wetlands provide opportunities for bird watching including flamingos. The route includes a passage by the Chucura extinct volcano crater. A stop is made at the Volcanoes viewpoint the highest point of the route at 4800 meters (15748 feet) above sea level. This location offers panoramic views of the western mountain range.
Arrival in Chivay is estimated between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM. Hotel check-in is followed by lunch which is not included in the package. At 5:00 PM the tour visits the La Calera hot springs where the thermal waters maintain temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius. Dinner at 8:00 PM includes a folkloric show also not included in the package. Overnight stay in Chivay.
Breakfast is served at 6:00 AM. Departure to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint is at 6:30 AM. This location is a strategic point for observing the Colca Canyon and condor flights. The return journey includes stops at the towns of Pinchollo Maca and Yanque each featuring colonial churches. Viewpoints such as Choquetico and Antahuilque provide views of the valley’s terraces pre-Inca tombs and models. Lunch is not included.
The return to Arequipa begins at 1:00 PM with arrival estimated between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM
